Really Give Up Your Pursuit Of Happiness

By Evan Sanders

Happiness isn't somethign that just shows up in our lives whenever we feel like it. Happiness depends on our actions.

End your pursuit of happiness.

Maybe Hollywood, magazines, talk shows etc. would not like this controversial idea too much because it would cut down on viewership if people followed through with it, but I am going to say it again. End your pursuit of happiness.

Rather, begin to recognize that it is in our daily actions and growth all though life that we truly find deep fulfillment, and in the final analysis, deep and true happiness.

I'm not recommending that happiness isn't a crucial aspect in each of our lives - it would be ignorant to claim such a thing. What I'm proposing is that maybe there is a different path we could actually take that will lead us to larger amounts of happiness throughout our life. Possibly we ought to be targeting more on the development of our mind, body, and soul each and every day in small increments to guarantee that we are consistently growing and adapting in positive ways? This should be a particularly interesting alternate track to take instead of looking for something that we can never truly grasp onto.

If we are continually growing, we feel that we are making progress in our lives and therefore are satisfied with how things are going. But aimlessly looking for an emotion that can't be gripped onto like other emotion we experience seems a bit hopeless when it comes down to it. There has to be an alternative way of doing things which will help us get more successful in life ultimately.

So what if you tried on this concept for a while and permitted yourself to focus on growth instead of happiness?

Who is able to say what might happen?

All I know is that development in life is deeply connected to personal development and growth and that contentment is not far behind.

Food for thought.
