By George Kennedy

These days stress and anxiety seem to be common conditions. Many people suffer from these issues and don't know where to turn to get help. While medication can be helpful, it can also bring about many unwanted side effects and in some cases it does not bring about the desired results. However, there is good news. There are many anxiety exercises for adults that work to bring about the calmness, and happiness that suffers need and want.

These benefits include all around better health. Don't fool yourself into believing that only hardcore workouts can be beneficial. This is simply not the case. Even taking a walk each day provides wonderful benefits. If you're out of shape, start slowly, walk for fifteen, or even ten minutes, and work your way to 30 minutes a day. The important thing is not to give up. You'll reap the benefits as long as you stick with it.

One thing that you can do to make it easier to stay with your new regime is to make it something you like. If you do something you enjoy, it's easier to follow through. You don't even have to choose a traditional exercise. If you like to dance, do that. If you enjoy skating, skating can be your work out. Even running around outside with your children counts. If it's something that gets you moving, it will benefit you.

While any exercise is better than none, some workouts have been proven to have optimal effects on anxious feelings. Yoga is one such workout. One reason this works so well is that yoga focuses on breathing. Deep, slow breathing is a wonderful way to breath away the anxious feelings. Breathing this way also helps with depression, and anger issues. Yoga is definitely worth a try.

Running is another super exercise for those who suffer from these issues. Studies have shown that the good feelings that one gets from running are long lasting. This means that long after the run is over, you'll still feel happy and great.

Get out and take a hike. Being out and about in nature is the perfect way to slow down and feel better. Look at the beautiful scenery along the way, breathe in nature and soon you'll find yourself feeling better.

You don't have to choose just one exercise, you can mix it up to keep things interesting. Run a couple of times a week, do yoga a couple of times, and go out dancing on the weekend. Mix it up any way that you want. The important thing is to keep doing it.

Now it's time to get started. You know how exercise can benefit you, now do it. Workout in conjunction with medication to treat your anxiety, or do it alone. You'll be doing something amazing for your entire body. See the difference it makes in your life and you'll never want to be without it again. The hardest part is taking the first step, stop procrastinating and get started.
