The Most Common Myths About Fashion

By Katie Onson

There's no denying the importance of fashion, but not everything you know about it is accurate. Fashion enthusiasts across the board will tell you the same, seeing as how there are a number of myths that people believe to this very day. With so much information that exists to the contrary, it's shocking to see just how much weight people place into these myths. Hopefully the following information will help to clear the air on the matter.

"If you want to appear thin, never wear horizontal stripes." Many of us are familiar with the visual trick that vertical stripes offer. According to companies such as Estelle's Dressy Dresses, they make us look thinner. This doesn't necessarily mean that horizontal stripes should be left of the equation, as they can be worn for the same purpose as well. It's a matter of where on the body they're worn, though. Whether you're talking about sweet 16 dresses or more casual attires, pattern placement matters.

"You shouldn't wear black and blue." While it's been said that the similar shades of black and blue make them difficult to wear together, others would say differently. The main goal here is to accessorize. You should be able to pair off different accessories with the clothes you wear so that these colors can better work together. If you're able to do so, chances are that you will find yourself looking more stylish than ever before.

"Only one or two patterns, at most, should be worn." In the fashion world we live in today, patterns have taken a high level of priority. Instead of sticking to a single pattern, you should try to wear different ones together. It's entirely possible to do so, since they can work together in order to create looks that are nothing short of unique. The more willing you are to experiment, the more likely it is you'll come up with something special.

As you can see, there are more than a few fashion myths that fashion specialists will be able to tell you about. This is why you should make it a point to learn, uncovering the myths in question so that you can see the truth that exists underneath. Fashion will continue to grow as time moves on; this is a fact. However, in order to be as stylish as possible for any time of the year, you should be able to differentiate fact from fiction.
