Gaining Self Confidence To Be Successful In Anything

Where does self confidence come from? How do we get it? Why don't I have it? The answer to all of these questions can be answered with one word you! Self confidence starts with you, your perception of yourself, and what others think about your actions or behavior.

For some of us, a lack of self confidence only has an effect on our high ambitions. You might have always wanted to get up on stage, or to be a professional singer or actor for example. Maybe your life dream is to travel the world, visit different nations or towns, but you do not have the self confidence to do it. For others, the issue of self confidence is much nearer to home - at work, business conferences, public talking events or presentations.

Self confidence issues affect most of us at some time, and we will be able to usually find ways of getting round the problem. Avoidance is one method we often use - if we can get out of a menacing situation we will make up excuses not to take part. Nonetheless there are times when we can't get out of it, or we really don't want to. If a scarcity of self confidence is excluding you from doing trying something new, or from succeeding in your working life, it is time to sort it out.

Low self esteem, not believing in yourself or your ability, feeling insufficient compared to your colleagues or pals or perhaps a type of stress from your youth are all contributing factors. Taking positive action to beat your fears is the next step to help increase your self confidence. An easy way to try this is by taking on small challenges. You have authorized your brain to associate certain events or actions with fear, so you have already pre-empted the result of these situations. By taking a small step in the direction of conquering this, you will find the result is most probably not as bad as you think actually you'll probably be surprised about how good you are feeling and your self confidence will instantly increase.

When you've finished your first small challenge, congratulate yourself on achieving your aim. A little reward can regularly help. You're already on the right trail to improving your self confidence, so you are ready to take it to a new level. This need not be a huge task; you do not need to undo all the sterling work. Building up your self confidence requires time, and while you might like to jump ahead, it can be good to take things slow at first.
