Facts Regarding The Tempe United Church Of Christ

By Elizabeth Edwards

The Temple United Church has its roots based in the Protestant Christian Denomination. Over the years, tempe United Church of Christ has established over five thousand churches across the world and has taken in several millions of congregants. This denomination has a great emphasis on the interfaith efforts among other issues such as human rights.

The Church of Christ has its origin from a merge up of two Churches which are big in nature. The believers of this two churches are now coming to together to worship. Many Christians who are looking for church to attend to should consider such churches. Most of the believers in the new temple are new followers and thus people who are looking for the right location to worship can now join them.

Each of the constituent churches is allowed its own form of worship, as that body has not restricted them to a certain way. Despite all that, there are some shared beliefs across all the different churches such as the belief on the need for evangelism. In addition, the churches share a similar belief in getting to know how the old literature in the Bible has a direct relation with the occurrences in our day to day living.

Freedom of worship and thinking is also advocated for through the other forms of literature present in the body. The head of the denomination is acknowledged to be Jesus Christ, Son of God and Savior. The Holy Communion and Baptism are recognized as the two forms of sacraments and the Holy Spirit is also placed at high respect.

One belief that the body holds quite close is the need to be in unity and offer a unifying factor across the world. For this reason, it has involved itself in an organization that aims at uniting other nine protestant denominations across America. It has also been part of a global council that aims at creating common theological views across the different churches.

A good example is when the body came together with the United temple of Canada to agree on the need to cooperate in worship, ministry and missions. The agreement allowed the recognition of sacraments from both bodies and ministers being allowed to serve either of the congregation. In addition, the denomination has worked along with other religions such as Muslim groups.

The denomination has set one basic unit that is referred to as the local church or commonly termed as the congregation. Each of the churches is given the freedom to come up with their own ways of governing the congregation. It is for this reason that some churches are governed by several individual boards within it whereas others are governed by one central council within the unit.

The denominations obedience to its set covenants has given the congregants a great set of freedom in worship. However, it has faced some criticism regarding the theological variance and political views. It has also been criticized regarding social issues such as favoring the acknowledgment of same sex marriage among other accusations such as allowing politicians to campaign in the congregation.
