God has been speaking to the people of Homa Bay through a special messenger. Christ Faith Evangelical Church under the stewardship of Pastor David Oloo has been serving the lakeside town for over a decade now. God has prompted this ministry through its shepherds to take on a new name. It is now being referred to as Good Shepherd House of Worship.
In 2010, the church building had its foundations laid on Asego Hills in the western regions of Kenya at a place called Homa Bay. The structure stood on a plot of land whose size is approximately 50ft by 100ft. The support of an American Christian who dedicated profit from his business to the project was crucial in its completion. The member took the project as a way to thank God for enabling him to prosper in business. It was his own unique way of bringing Christ closer to people.
The current chapel was completed in 2011 and has a capacity of more than 600 people. It provides a perfect place for the locals to meet Christ in their afflictions. With the support of well wishers, God has found a dwelling place in Homa Bay.
The shepherds wanted to provide a decent place for the faithful to worship. The name was not clear from the beginning, explaining why they settled for the evangelical ministry, a name that has served them since foundation. At the prompt of the voice of God, this name has been changed to Good Shepherd House of Worship. The faithful are elated and ready for the new encounter with God.
Pastor Oloo is the current leader of the ministry having taken over from his father Bishop Nashon. He has served the evangelical church for years, rising to become a Senior Pastor. The youthful pastor has dedicated his life to ministry work and steering it into the new and promising future.
A children home for orphaned children forms part of the ministry. It provides love and care to children orphaned by the deadly AIDS scourge that has ravaged the place for decades now. The children cannot run to their extended families since they also are too poor to shoulder an extra burden. It is upon the shepherds of God in the ministry to provide for them.
The needs of this family that was originally small and manageable have increased. The children have grown and now require more than food, shelter and cloths. They also require a way to guarantee a better future through quality education. Some have already joined vocational institutions to curve a better future for them and their families. All these are needs that require a huge muscle in terms of resources.
A lot of children and families have found hope and refuge at The Homa Bay Orphans Life Resurrection Center. They consider this home as a well from where they get spiritual nourishment. It has taken the support of well wishers to get to where they are. The support has been in form of cash and kind and is transforming their lives. Other duties performed by the ministry include outreach to neighboring villages through crusades which continue to transform souls.
